Social Sculpture

Participatory public sculpture
Presented throughout Los Angeles County, CA
2014

What does it look like when people make a sculpture together? Social Sculpture is an inquiry into collective authorship by posing this question in public spaces in Los Angeles county.  The question was an open invitation for the spontaneous creation of public art in public space. The work begins as a wet block of clay on a pedestal and ends when people are finished sculpting it. The resulting sculpture is fired and filed as a permanent record of a temporary collective experience.
